Coordinate Indoor & Outdoor Furniture in Outdoor Rooms
As designers and manufacturers expand and improve the quality and selection of patio furniture, the trends in creating outdoor rooms continues to grow in popularity. The key to successful design of your outdoor living area is to coordinate your indoor and outdoor decorating schemes. Patio furniture in 2006 offers unlimited selections in colors, textures and patterns to compliment any interior style.
While the styles of your indoor and outdoor furniture may differ, you can create a coordinated look by using the same or similar color themes. If your indoor style is bright retro colors, carry-over your color scheme to your outdoor space with cushions or accessories in the same color family. A transition to earthy colors from a vibrant retro interior would feel and look awkward. Use the same basic color palette for all areas of your home and add an alternative 'feature' color if you want to liven up your patio furniture.
Patio Furniture 2006 Color Trends
According to the color designers at the Color Marketing Group (CMG), colors for 2006 will be warmer, clearer and brighter. Reddened oranges will replace coppery hues; yellows will gain importance; blues will dramatically recede; and complex neutrals will add sophistication and luxury to the 2006 color palette for both home decor and fashion.
CMG suggests six key influences on color direction for 2006:
- Techno-Organic Balance - finding a balance in their lives between the influences of nature and the pace of technological advance.
- Breathing Space - seeking serenity and calm in a space that is insulated from common daily stresses and emerging threats to safety, both in public and private.
- Heritage with Heart - hope and optimism filter memories of past events, ensuring that this nostalgic journey is warm, comforting and focused n positive times; struggles are forgotten.
- Hybrid - the move to hybridization occurs in parallel with geopolitical and economic events and is a product of the proliferation of global unification in communications, transportation, manufacturing and services. Hybridization offers a sharp contrast to the comfort of the predictable past.
- Über Luxury - as extravagance becomes accessible to the masses, icons of sophisticated craftsmanship and rare materials with high polish and burnished finishes will emerge.
- Color Depth - bold colors and luminous materials that add glow and fluidityvisually stimulating chromatic textures yield highenergy interest and excitement.
Technology & Nature Combine in 2006 Patio Furniture Styles
As we look to find a balance between the technology-driven advances in society with our desire to connect, and for some re-connect, with nature, we are also looking for ways to combine these influences in our indoor and outdoor environments.
Fresh combinations of metallic colors and sophisticated earthy tones are found in patio furniture designed with aluminum and stainless steel and teak or hardwoods. The cool futuristic influence of brushed silver contrasts the warmth and comfort of earthy wood color. Crisp frame lines accentuate comfort of padded, weather-resistant cushions. It's all about combining the sophistication and advantages of new materials with ever-present need to relax and re-energize.
