patio furniture trendsPatio Furniture Trends & Styles for 2005 ~ Outdoor Rooms are hot!

Creating comfortable, relaxing outdoor rooms continues as the popular trend for this upcoming year. Outdoor patio furniture reflects this trend by combining a little interior luxury with a lot of all-weather durability. New synthetic materials used in patio furniture construction create the look of natural wicker, rattan and bamboo and offer long-lasting strength and weather-resistance. The selection of stylish and comfortable furniture that withstands the outdoor elements grows every year.

Style is still the focus in outdoor furniture and the trend is towards modern, sleek and exceptionally comfortable. The combination of metal and wood is hot, with aluminium and teak the most popular. Teak adds warmth to the metal giving it a distinct contemporary feel. Being able to create an outdoor style and decor that coordinates with our interiors is increasingly important as the line between inside and out blurs. It's possible to have all the comforts of interior spaces on your balcony, patio, deck or even in your garden landscape.

Homeowners are creating outdoor living areas for multiple uses including cooking, dining, relaxing and entertaining. Patio furniture designed to suit these activities is a must. Colors, shapes, designs and materials used in the interior are reflected in the garden and patio furniture available to furnish your outdoor entertaining and lounging areas.

Look for new pieces in outdoor furniture and accessories to maximize entertaining with free standing bars and bar stools, wine racks and coolers, serving and drinks carts, fire pits and even outdoor kitchens. For comfort and style you will find more pillows, throws and carpets using new fabrics that are soft yet durable for outdoor settings.

Here's some trends in patio furniture that will continue in 2005 ~

New outdoor furniture selections for spring are deep, cushy and inviting and are designed for the ultimate in comfortable relaxation. The popularity of creating outdoor rooms is soaring and the selection of patio furniture styles is better than ever. Not only are there all sorts of stylish new deep seating groups, you can complete the look and ambience of your outdoor room with special throws, lamps, serving carts, fire pits or outdoor fireplaces—all designed for outdoor use.

Make mine big. Dining groups are designed for seating a crowd. Tables are often several feet long and can comfortably accommodate twelve or so people. Many dining chairs are wider with higher backs for additional comfort.

Conversation groupings. These low seating groups – higher than a cocktail table but lower than a dining table – are also referred to as chat groups. They are ideal for the casual lifestyle of the outdoors and are perfect for serving beverages and hors d'oeuvres, playing cards or just enjoying a conversation.

Alternative tabletops. Traditional glass is being replaced by alternative materials such as tumbled marble, mosaics, tile, stone, granite, slate, and punched metal.

Elevated dining sets. These high seats and tables are designed so that you can easily enjoy the beautiful view over the railing on your deck or balcony. Also popular are elevated bars with barstools for casual entertaining.

Earth tones. Colors of nature are widely popular this year. Look for all shades of brown such as khaki, bronze and rust on both frames and covers. Darker colors such as blacks, dark rusts and dark browns are also popular. Watch out for these dark colors in the bright sun, some materials can get very hot to the touch!

With the outstanding selections offered, the typical American backyard can take on the style and comfort of a world-class resort.
